Heteroteuthis dispar, a Deep-sea squid

<< Cephalopod Species
Heteroteuthis dispar
Heteroteuthis dispar
is a three inch long deep-sea sepiolid that ejects bioluminescent clouds instead of ink! This behavior is called "fire shooting" and it is thought to have the same effect as the ink clouds produced by many shallow water cephalopods.
